Maryland Delegate Kris Valderrama has been a member of House of Delegates since January 10, 2007 and is a proud product of the Prince George's County public school system, where she graduated from Oxon Hill Senior High School. After high school, Kris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from Salisbury State University, in Salisbury, Maryland.

Following her career in the health care field, Kris pursued another interest – communications. Kris currently works with the 1.4-million-member American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO in their Public Affairs Department – Strategic Communications Unit, working on such issues as child care, home care and health care organizing.

In addition, Kris has been active in the labor movement for over a decade campaigning and rallying in support of working family issues. Beyond the scope of her job but along the communications path, Kris co-hosts, reports and interviews politicians and community leaders on issues of interest to Prince George's County for Valderrama's America.

Outside of work, Kris has always been involved in the community and is no stranger to the political arena. She has devoted her time to the campaigns and electoral process of the 26th Legislative District for over two decades – everything from GOTV efforts, to voter registration drives to precinct polling work. Today, Kris remains fully engaged in the issues and concerns of people in Prince George's County and the region.

Kris is the eldest daughter of former Maryland Delegate David M. Valderrama and Nelia Valderrama. She is married to Abraham Lobo of Seattle, Washington and is the mother of two daughters, Jordan Kristina & Evan Vida. Kris and her family reside in Fort Washington.

Chandni Kumar grew up in Howard County, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland for her undergraduate studies. During her time at UMD, she served in the AASU, ISA, and SGA, receiving the Vera Cruz-Kochiyama Award for leadership in the Asian American community. She was fortunate to be able to take advantage of the limited offerings on Asian American studies at the time, including the Asian American History course and a class on Asian American Women. Chandni was also part of the student activism that ultimately resulted in the establishment of the UMD Asian American Studies Program.

She currently serves as an attorney in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. She was previously appointed to the U.S. Foreign Service and served as a diplomat overseas before returning domestically in 2014. She has worked as a Hill staffer (Congressman Xavier Becerra), an Assistant State’s Attorney in Montgomery County, and as a private litigation attorney. Her interests outside of work include travel, middle eastern dance, and spending time with her husband and twin boys.

She earned her J.D. at American University in 2004 and her B.A. in Government and Politics, as well as a Certificate Degree in Women’s Studies, from the University of Maryland in 2000. Chandni and her husband Raj are both proud Terps.
