The Asian American Studies Program Awarded the 2018 PCEMI Instructional Unit- Minority Achievement Award
On May 4, 2018, the Asian American Studies Program was awarded the President’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Issues (PCEMI) Instructional Unit- Minority Achievement Award. This award recognizes the program's accomplishments and contributions to advancing the University's teaching, research, and service to ethnic minorities, noting the scope and content of its courses, the number and range of students reached through its courses, and the programs provided to the community.
The President’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Issues (PCEMI) was established in 1973 to address the concerns of ethnic minority groups on the UMCP campus. PCEMI established the Ethnic Minority Achievement Awards to recognize individuals and units who have demonstrated leadership or made outstanding contributions to advancing ethnic minority issues and to the University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
