Affiliate Professor Perla Guerrero Awarded for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in a General Education Course

Congratulations to AAST affiliate professor Dr. Perla Guerrero for being awarded the 2020 Donna B. Hamilton Teaching Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

Dr. Guerrero is associate professor in American Studies and serves as the director of the US Latina/o Studies Program. Her research and teaching interests include relational and comparative race and ethnicity with a focus on Latinas/os/xs and Asian Americans, space and place, immigration, labor, U.S. history, and the U.S. South.

These teaching awards are named in honor of Donna B. Hamilton, former Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean for Undergraduate Studies. A Professor Emerita in the English department and previous Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Hamilton was the 2015 recipient of the President's Medal.
