AAST Stands in Solidarity with Black Lives Matter

We are outraged by and mourn the killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery and so many more Black victims of police violence and broader systems of racist violence. It is, however, not enough to say it. We must also find ways to be actively anti-racist. As Professor and activist Angela Davis said, "In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.” As Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, we call for an end to anti-Black policies. We call for racial justice and call out continuous systemic failures that lead to racial inequality.  We pledge to take action and hope that you will, too.
